Stinger softball outlasts USC Sumter in High-Scoring Tournament Opener

In a thrilling start to the Region 10 Tournament at Tyger Park, fourth-seeded Florence-Darlington Technical College edged out fifth-seeded USC Sumter, 14-12, in Game 1 of the postseason.

The Stingers' offense came alive with 16 hits and 13 RBIs. Grayce Rhyne led the charge, scoring four runs and tallying two hits, while Zoei Hunt delivered a key home run and drove in three runs. Hayleigh Atkinson and Madison Rainwater also played pivotal roles at the plate, each contributing two hits and three RBIs.

Hunt showcased his versatility, contributing not only at bat, but also on the mound, where she pitched two innings. Mackenzie Kubas earned the win after tossing five innings, allowing four runs on five hits.

The Stingers also impressed on the base paths, with Larissa Siders swiping three bases and Rhyne adding another to highlight the team's aggressive play style.
