
Florence-Darlington Technical College secured a decisive 16-4 victory over Shelton State in the JUCO World Series, powered by explosive offense and standout individual performances.
The Stingers jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning, thanks to Patrick Evans' RBI single and Zack Hunt's two-RBI hit. Josh Campos extended the lead in the second with a solo home run. The game's turning point came in the sixth, when Florence-Darlington erupted for 11 runs, highlighted by Evans' two-RBI double and Campos' two-RBI triple.
Campos led the offensive surge, going 3-for-4 with a home run, triple, and three RBIs while scoring four runs. Evans was equally impressive, collecting four hits—including two doubles—driving in four runs, and scoring twice. Hunt contributed two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Diego Garcia added two hits and two RBIs to round out the offensive effort.
On the mound, Mike Joyce earned the win, pitching six innings and allowing four runs on five hits while striking out five. Florence-Darlington totaled 15 hits and capitalized on three walks issued by Shelton State's pitchers.
The Stingers next matchup will be Tuesday, May 27 at 7:00 PM MST (9:00 PM EST) against the winner of Lake Land and Salt Lake.
