Florence-Darlington Drops East District Opener to Harford, 3–0

Florence-Darlington Technical College fell 3–0 to Harford Community College in the opening game of the East District Tournament, a best-of-three series. Despite tallying seven hits, the Stingers were unable to convert scoring opportunities, stranding eight runners on base.

Harford's Liam Diehl delivered a complete-game gem on the mound, shutting out the Stingers while scattering seven hits and striking out seven. He kept Florence-Darlington off balance all afternoon and worked out of multiple jams to preserve the shutout.

Jake Zehner led the Stingers' offense, going 2-for-4 at the plate. Zack Hunt, Gabe Herold, and Patrick Evans each added a hit, but the lineup struggled to produce runs.

The game's turning point came in the sixth inning when Harford's Derek Poole launched a two-run home run, widening the lead and sealing the win.

On the mound for Florence-Darlington, Mike Joyce pitched seven innings, allowing three runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts. He was relieved by Elijah Sanders, who threw two scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out two.

The Stingers also committed two errors, which, combined with missed chances at the plate, contributed to the shutout. Game 2 of the series is crucial, as the winner advances to the NJCAA Division I Juco World Series, held May 24–31 in Grand Junction, Colorado.
