Top-Seeded Stingers Shut Out USC Sumter in Region 10 Tournament Opener

FDTC, the No. 1 seed in the Region 10 Tournament, opened postseason play with a dominant 7-0 victory over fourth-seeded USC Sumter on Friday.

Right-hander Mike Joyce delivered a standout performance on the mound, tossing 7 1/3 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out seven. His strong outing set the tone for the Stingers, who combined effective pitching with timely hitting and aggressive baserunning.

Devin Mitchell led the offensive charge, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs, including key run-scoring hits in the sixth and eighth innings. Josh Campos contributed with a 2-for-4 day, scoring twice and adding a stolen base. Patrick Evans also made an impact, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs, driving in runs in the first and third innings.

The Stingers played clean, disciplined baseball, committing only one error and taking advantage of USC Sumter's miscues. Four different players—Campos, Mitchell, Jake Zehner, and Zack Hunt—each recorded a stolen base, reflecting the team's aggressive approach on the base paths.
